What is recycled polyester?
Recycled polyester (rPET for short) is a material made from synthetic fibers. Recycled polyester is made by recycling existing materials (such as plastic bottles and packaging), but still has all the properties and performance of a regular polyester, making it a more sustainable material alternative power.
How is recycled polyester made?
Recycled polyester is made by shredding plastic products into small pieces. These small pieces are then made into yarn, converted into a fiber and ultimately made into a fabric.
 
What are the benefits of recycled polyester?
Producing rPet requires 33% to 53% less energy than producing regular polyester. In addition, rPet produces approximately 54.6% less CO2 emissions into the air than pure polyester.
By using recycled materials to make products like this recycled all-over high-waist bikini, at least some of the plastic waste produced doesn't end up in landfill.
